Into Our Dreams

Shoreditch Town Hall, London

June 2000

Into Our Dreams was a site specific, exploratory promenade project at Shoreditch Town Hall in the Spring of 2000.

It involved 40 young people from schools in Hackney and Islington working with a professional company of actors and designers. The original workshops reached over 350 pupils. The intensive five week rehearsal period centered on the creation of a new piece of work that would promenade through 21 different spaces within the Shoreditch Town Hall site. Much of the material came from the students’ own dreams and ideas, which were developed by the company of artists. The project formed a part of the Almeida’s Shakespeare in Shoreditch, tying in with the productions of Richard II and Coriolanus at the Gainsborough Studios.
